What's great about Reading?

  • Reading is absolutely fabulous, the shopping is fabulous, the nightlife can provide whatever kind of night you fancy be it a cheese fuelled extravaganza at reflex, some up market drinks in a wine bar (none come to mind at present), A few quiet drinks in an old boozer (Eldon arms). It is also an excellent location for getting out and about into the countryside. And to correct the above comment - Reading is a town not city ! The town has kept a sense of local pride. It may not be as beautiful as surrounding places ie Oxford and Henley but it means that the place isn't full of tourists getting in the way! (Hannah L.)
  • Whether you want to live, work or play in Reading, we’ve got plenty to shout about. • A top UK shopping destination, compact and walkable - not many places you get a John Lewis and House of Fraser; two shopping centres as well as a traditional ‘high street’, with every kind of shop you could want. • Good night life and café culture – pubs, clubs, a theatre and concert hall or maybe Jongleurs if you fancy a laugh. • Local but not parochial events – great for couples and families alike – one week you might find yourself at the Real Ale and Jazz Festival, the next Reading Comedy Festival or even wandering the canal at Waterfest. • Major sporting events – centred on the first class Madejski stadium – home to Reading FC, the London Irish rugby team and the Reading Half Marathon; and many sporting facilities and clubs too. • Waterways and open spaces – 2 rivers and a canal as well as the likes of the town centre Forbury Gardens to the rolling Prospect Park. • A city lifestyle if you want it, but only a hop and you’re in the country. • Quality residential property, diverse in its make up – from waterside penthouse living to your idyllic country cottage. • Two universities – offering diverse educational opportunities from 16+ • Accessible – at a national rail and motorway intersection and close the Heathrow. • Employment opportunities – whatever your talent or vocation… I could go on…but why not visit for yourself? ;-) (Karen C.)
  • Reading has a good shopping center, which is Oracle... apart from that there's not much going on there... actually quite dull city :(. Moving out soon! :)
