Been here for the footy and have to say the away end is not much to shout about....it's underneath a marquee !! Quiet a small ground but was a pretty good atmopshere. They do do some great pies etc though for you to eat before and during the game. Drove to the game and found it pretty easy to get parked. Not many pubs around the ground though for away fans.

Proper Cornish Pasties

No match at the Memorial Stadium (rugby or football) is complete without a pasty from the 'Proper Cornish Pasty' vans dotted around the ground. They regularly score really well in the football 'best pies' league and rightly so. Lets hope the pasties are still there after the revdevelopment... and that the stadium doesn't lose it's great atmosphere. The one thing they could do with is improved access & parking. Horfield gets absolutely gridlocked when a big match is on .... I once missed half a match trying to find somewhere/anywhere to dump the car... ended up having to walk miles back up the Gloucester Road

I went to my first match at the Mem on Saturday. Unfortunatley Bristol RFC lost against Worcester. But the staff were fantastic! Really friendly and helpful and the food in hospitality was good. The Mem is due to be rebuilt/refurbed so this was Bristol Rugby's last game at the stadium before they move temporarily to Newport.

Student action from the Rovers

Situated on Filton Avenue in Horfield, a renowned student haunt, Bristol Rovers' Memorial Stadium proves a popular Saturday afternoon outing for University-goers and Rovers fans alike. The stadium is easily accessible with plenty of on-street parking and public transport links. There are also some excellent pubs in the vicinity for that pre-match pint. Rovers, like their local rivals, have experienced a bit of resurgence recently and they are playing some nice football and guided by an excellent young coach. Like Ashton Gate, I have been to the "MemStad" on many occasions to get my fix and I've never been let down by the atmosphere or the quality of football on offer.
