Review of The Islington Tup

The Islington Tap 3*

Good selection of lagers. Nice staff. Have not eaten here but its all usual pub food burgers and Sunday Lunch special. Good for football as they have two large screens one at either end of the pub. Don't allow people to wear football shirts so they atmosphere is usually alright.

Review of The Woodland Hardware Store

Hardware Store 3*

Good hardware store for the size packed with tools and the like. Helpful staff who seem to know what they are talking about. A little expensive but easy to get to if your local as its with all the other local shops.

Review of Fishers

Fishers Fish & Chips 4*

Good fish and chip takeaway and restaurant. The chips are pretty good and they offer very tasty burgers and pies on top of the usual range of fish. Excellent staff; friendly, polite, helpful and welcoming. Pleasant surroundings in the restaurant, it's separate from the takeaway counter so no distractions etc.

Review of Baker and Spice

17 May 07, 22:56

Baker and Spice 3*

A very trendy and expensive deli and bakers. Although all the food is organic and cooked on the premises the price of a lunch take out can be as much £10.00. The take away counter which serves both vegetable dishes and salads is priced per kilo and can work costly. The cakes look amazing though and the coffee smells great. Inside there is one large wooden table, which is the only place to eat in so not ideal for groups. There are bistro style tables outside.

Review of The Long Room

17 May 07, 17:01

The Long Room 2*

Although this is a large bar and has comfy sofas it tends to lack atmosphere and feels like an airport lounge. The bar staff are slow and unhelpful. Although the menu looks fancy, and the food is well presented it's exactly quite poor and watch out for hidden charges. Even though the sandwichs say they come with chips they will try to charge them as a side order. Even when you are the only table waiting it still takes forever to come out.

Review of Vibe Bar

Vibe Bar 4*

Great bar for the summer as there is a large open courtyard at the front with loads of tables. Aptly named as there is always a good atmosphere here.

Review of Aria

Aria 4*

Funky 20th Century design furniture and home ware shop. This is an expensive shop with the latest in modern design furniture, home ware and gifts. The chairs are stunning to look at and the ceramics also gorgeous, a good place for a wedding present or new home gift. Great if you want something that's a little more than Ikea.

Review of Whistle and Flute

The Whistle & Flute 4*

Good beer, great food, nice decor - wood panel and book shelves. The door step sandwiches used to be too wide to bite! As good as that was, the down sized versions are just as tasty and a little easier to handle, the club being my favourite. Nice range of food for lunch and not bad on price, you get a decent meal for a decent price, I can't complain. No smoking section at the back of the pub and friendly helpful staff. Get there before 1:00pm for lunch at it gets busy and if you're down the list you may be there a while waiting. This is understandable when they are busy and they do let you know it could be a while to wait if so. Lunch hour is never long enough to enjoy this pub fully, we always want to stay longer.

Review of The Trafalgar

15 May 07, 22:32

The Trafalgar 3*

Alright place for a drink, not exactly my kind of place, but I can't quite tell why - maybe the decoration isn't quite my taste? It not a very traditional pub but at the same time isn't a 'trendy bar'. Nice range of beer and drinks not too expensive and served in by friendly if not a little slow (to be very fussy) staff. There was a leak in the toilet ceiling when I was there but once fixed all the loos would not be the worst. There are plenty of pubs around here which I haven't tried yet so I would go else where before going back here but it's nice enough to try for yourself.
