Review of Godfrey Frank Ltd

Godfrey Frank Ltd 4*

A superb local organic butcher. Lovely meat sold here, the only problem is the expensive price although you are paying for quality. If it was a little cheaper I'd say 5 stars. Worth buying a little less and going here rather than the supermarket. Friendly, helpful staff. One little gripe is that they wear plastic gloves, presumably for hygiene, but handle cash and cards with the same hands as the meat. I'm not too bothered but the gloves must be for the staff's hands not customers purchases.

Cosy Irish pub in Hackney with a mix of Irish, Vietnamese and general Londoners. Real fires keep in toastie in the winter. Friendly atmosphere, the locals make you feel welcome. Quickly became our favourite in the area.

Review of The Lock Tavern

The Lock Tavern 4*

Cool pub with a cosy garden for the warmer months. Black walls create a trendy atmosphere but not too pretentious. Can't remember any real ales available but the larger was fine. If you can get out side as it's nice to sit out the back away from the street in the roofed garden. Service can be a little slow but it is busy when ever I have been.

Review of J E Gulliford Greengrocers

J&E Gullford 4*

Good green-grocer as an alternative to the supermarket. The fruit and veg doesn't last as long but if its close to home we pop out when we need something for the next day or so. Friendly staff who are willing to help.

Review of The Betsey Trotwood

The Betsey Trotwood 4*

Cool little pub with tiny downstairs music venue. We squeezed into the basement with only about 30 other people to see a couple of bands. This makes for a great atmosphere for crowds of this size, much better than being spread out. Intimate with the band but be careful not to jump as you'll hit your head on the ceiling! The ground floor pub area has a wooden feel and is clean enough. Good larger on tap and a few ales. An interesting place and well worth a visit.

Review of Bar Kick

Bar Kick 3*

Good enough little place with a few table football games. I found the cork balls annoying as they are light and bouncy. I can only think it's for safety, but pool balls are allowed in pubs? It gets busy but it's a reasonably size with a bit of room by the bar. Best to get in early and get a good spot for a few games of foosball with friends. I prefer the location and crowd of the Exmouth market Cafe kick, went I visited this one was full of-up-themselves blokes who frequent Shoreditch and Old street areas.

Good enough little place with a few table football games. I found the cork balls annoying as they are light and bouncy. I can only think it's for safety, but pool balls are allowed in pubs? It gets very busy and so not that relaxing to stand and not be involved at least as a spectator round a table, there are no out of the way corners. Bottled beer only so only really worth it if you want to get in early and get a good stop for a few games of foosball with friends.

Review of Sainsburys Local

11 May 07, 18:47

Sainsbury's, Upper Stree 4*

A small local Sainsbury's good to pick up any little extras if you're passing. Occasionally low stocked and a little messy but usually has what I've gone in for. Nothing special but not bad, what you would expect from most small local supermarkets.

Review of Bugis Street Brasserie

Bugis Street Brasserie 5*

Excellent decor service and food in this fairly fancy restaurant. Not too expensive especially if you stick to the set menu for about £20 per head plus drinks. Highly recommended. I love the chrispy aromatic duck washed down with a nice rose wine.

American style diner with great coffe and cakes. The walls are covered in nostalgia and theatre flyers.
