Review of Fishers

Fishers Fish & Chips
Good fish and chip takeaway and restaurant. The chips are pretty good and they offer very tasty burgers and pies on top of the usual range of fish. Excellent staff; friendly, polite, helpful and welcoming. Pleasant surroundings in the restaurant, it's separate from the takeaway counter so no distractions etc.

Vibe Bar
Great bar for the summer as there is a large open courtyard at the front with loads of tables. Aptly named as there is always a good atmosphere here.

Aria
Funky 20th Century design furniture and home ware shop. This is an expensive shop with the latest in modern design furniture, home ware and gifts. The chairs are stunning to look at and the ceramics also gorgeous, a good place for a wedding present or new home gift. Great if you want something that's a little more than Ikea.

Review of Whistle and Flute

The Whistle & Flute
Good beer, great food, nice decor - wood panel and book shelves. The door step sandwiches used to be too wide to bite! As good as that was, the down sized versions are just as tasty and a little easier to handle, the club being my favourite. Nice range of food for lunch and not bad on price, you get a decent meal for a decent price, I can't complain. No smoking section at the back of the pub and friendly helpful staff. Get there before 1:00pm for lunch at it gets busy and if you're down the list you may be there a while waiting. This is understandable when they are busy and they do let you know it could be a while to wait if so. Lunch hour is never long enough to enjoy this pub fully, we always want to stay longer.

Review of Godfrey Frank Ltd

Godfrey Frank Ltd
A superb local organic butcher. Lovely meat sold here, the only problem is the expensive price although you are paying for quality. If it was a little cheaper I'd say 5 stars. Worth buying a little less and going here rather than the supermarket. Friendly, helpful staff. One little gripe is that they wear plastic gloves, presumably for hygiene, but handle cash and cards with the same hands as the meat. I'm not too bothered but the gloves must be for the staff's hands not customers purchases.

Review of The Lock Tavern

The Lock Tavern
Cool pub with a cosy garden for the warmer months. Black walls create a trendy atmosphere but not too pretentious. Can't remember any real ales available but the larger was fine. If you can get out side as it's nice to sit out the back away from the street in the roofed garden. Service can be a little slow but it is busy when ever I have been.

Review of J E Gulliford Greengrocers

J&E Gullford
Good green-grocer as an alternative to the supermarket. The fruit and veg doesn't last as long but if its close to home we pop out when we need something for the next day or so. Friendly staff who are willing to help.

Review of The Betsey Trotwood

The Betsey Trotwood
Cool little pub with tiny downstairs music venue. We squeezed into the basement with only about 30 other people to see a couple of bands. This makes for a great atmosphere for crowds of this size, much better than being spread out. Intimate with the band but be careful not to jump as you'll hit your head on the ceiling! The ground floor pub area has a wooden feel and is clean enough. Good larger on tap and a few ales. An interesting place and well worth a visit.

Review of Sainsburys Local

Sainsbury's, Upper Stree
A small local Sainsbury's good to pick up any little extras if you're passing. Occasionally low stocked and a little messy but usually has what I've gone in for. Nothing special but not bad, what you would expect from most small local supermarkets.

Review of The Barn Store

The barn store
Easy to find on Highbury park as it is bright yellow. They sell a small selection on fresh fruit and veg and the usual range of tinned and dry good found in late night shops. A handy place to to pick up essentials. Nice staff providing good service.

Review of The Metro Club

Blow Up Metro
Good small music venue. Nice room and when it's busy, great atmosphere. The bar a raised step and has a view of the stage. Good for nipping to get the beers in and not missing any action. One of those venues to see an up and coming act up close and personal. Last saw The View and The Underground Heroes here and I know at least The View are going well and performing in theatre sized venues. Cool decor and cosy basement feel.

Review of The Natural History Museum

V&A South Kensington
A quality London museum with interesting exhibits. We last visited for an architecture exhibition which was OK, better if you're especially interested in this subject. Admission is free but some exhibitions and events carry a separate charge. Worth a visit but not my favourite of the big museums in the area.

Review of Barfly

The Barfly Club
Cool music venue and bar in Camden. See a few bands here and been to a club night. The club was very busy, we could hardly move or get to the bar and wherever we stood people where squeezing passed. Got better later in the evening. Good room upstairs to see bands in fairly small and when filled for a good band has a great atmosphere. Nothing special on the drinks front - the usual and a few beers and Guinness on tap.

Eurphoria for this Bakery. Great little bakers which does organic tasty cakes, sandwiches and monster size pizza slices which are impossible to eat without all the topping sliding off at some point.

Oliver Bonas Islington
Gift and home ware shop. They also sell clothing and jewelry. This has a wide range of items from affordable ornate picture frames to ridiculous chandeliers Big Brother style. Of the nicer items in this shop are the silk covered photo albums and other stationary which make affordable gifts. A good place to buy "man" gifts.

Review of Youngs Restaurant

Youngs Restaurant
A very nice Chinese restaurant and take-away. Perhaps a little expensive for take-away but high quality. The restaurant is well presented, clean and tidy , perfectly white table cloths and serviettes greet you at the table. The food is lovely with plenty to choose from. We went for a set meal which makes ordering easy and helps keep the price down. I loved the spicy beef on the one we chose and the chicken wrap was great too. It was quite when we visited during the but I have walked past on the weekend and its been full so I'd guess a reservation might be worth while. The staff where fine, polite and welcoming.
