Review of The Islington Tup

The Islington Tap
Good selection of lagers. Nice staff. Have not eaten here but its all usual pub food burgers and Sunday Lunch special. Good for football as they have two large screens one at either end of the pub. Don't allow people to wear football shirts so they atmosphere is usually alright.

Review of Whistle and Flute

Good beer, great food, nice decor - wood panel and book shelves. The door step sandwiches used to be too wide to bite! As good as that was, the down sized versions are just as tasty and a little easier to handle, the club being my favourite. Nice range of food for lunch and not bad on price, you get a decent meal for a decent price, I can't complain. No smoking section at the back of the pub and friendly helpful staff. Get there before 1:00pm for lunch at it gets busy and if you're down the list you may be there a while waiting. This is understandable when they are busy and they do let you know it could be a while to wait if so. Lunch hour is never long enough to enjoy this pub fully, we always want to stay longer.

Review of The Trafalgar

Alright place for a drink, not exactly my kind of place, but I can't quite tell why - maybe the decoration isn't quite my taste? It not a very traditional pub but at the same time isn't a 'trendy bar'. Nice range of beer and drinks not too expensive and served in by friendly if not a little slow (to be very fussy) staff. There was a leak in the toilet ceiling when I was there but once fixed all the loos would not be the worst. There are plenty of pubs around here which I haven't tried yet so I would go else where before going back here but it's nice enough to try for yourself.

Cosy Irish pub in Hackney with a mix of Irish, Vietnamese and general Londoners. Real fires keep in toastie in the winter. Friendly atmosphere, the locals make you feel welcome. Quickly became our favourite in the area.

Review of The Lock Tavern

The Lock Tavern
Cool pub with a cosy garden for the warmer months. Black walls create a trendy atmosphere but not too pretentious. Can't remember any real ales available but the larger was fine. If you can get out side as it's nice to sit out the back away from the street in the roofed garden. Service can be a little slow but it is busy when ever I have been.

Review of The Betsey Trotwood

The Betsey Trotwood
Cool little pub with tiny downstairs music venue. We squeezed into the basement with only about 30 other people to see a couple of bands. This makes for a great atmosphere for crowds of this size, much better than being spread out. Intimate with the band but be careful not to jump as you'll hit your head on the ceiling! The ground floor pub area has a wooden feel and is clean enough. Good larger on tap and a few ales. An interesting place and well worth a visit.

The Lyceum,
Good own brand beer and knock down prices. Food's not that good. Well worth looking in as it's as cheap as a Wetherspoons.

During the day a great place to watch football as there is a TV everywhere you look. Gets very busy during Arsenal games. Nice pizza, nice beer, nice sofas. Modern decor, in an old railway building with a large courtyard outside.

Review of The Railway Tavern

The Railway Tavern
A nice traditional pub due to its location busy on a Friday but nothing like the more trendy chain bars on Bishopgate and far less of the city crowd.
