Review of Outback Steakhouse

01 Dec 08, 06:43

Sunday night 2*

I had been thinking of having a meal at the Outback for some time so phoned to book a table for 5 people Sunday at 6.00 thought it would be relatively quiet I was told that I couldn't reserve a table but would be advanced in queue on arrival as I had phoned first. So far so good.

Arrived at 6.00 car park was full. At reception was told we would have a 10 minute wait. After checking back with reception at 6.30 it was clear we had been forgotten (Red faces all round) We eventually got a table at 6.35 Not that long a wait but certainly more then 10 minutes. By this time the restaurant was emptying out but service was slow. Ordered more drinks and 10 minutes later soft drinks arrived was told my lager was on its way from bar. 10 minutes later still not arrived it had been forgotten !!!. We wern't particularly impressed with the choice of menu and the price seemed inflated. The meals eventually arrived and were OK ish. Presentation was poor and some of the meals could have been hotter. Overall

Service 4/10 food 5/10 Value for money 4/10

Won't be returning sorry

Review of Ypres Castle Inn

Well worth a visit 5*

Tucked away in Gun garden but well worth a visit. There is a varied menu and a lovely garden overlooking Rye Harbour. Real ale and draught cider and a really warm welcome.

Review of The Dukes Head

The Dukes Head 4*

I love this pub it is one of the Vintage Inns chain. I have been visiting for about five years normally for family occassions, but it is also fine for a quiet lunch time drink. It never seems to get too busy and offers excellent friendly service. The menu offers a good selection plus several specials daily.

Well worth a visit

We drive past this lovely pub every week on our way to Winchelsea. Popped in recently for Saturday lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome we received. Recently refurbished and under new management. The menu was reasonably priced with a good choice and the food cooked to perfection, We will be going back. Well worth a visit

Review of Zach Willsher

26 Jun 08, 05:36

Favorite Pub 4*

The Zach has everything, garden, with Huge Umbrella's (with heating for the cooler evenings, childrens play area, Sports TV, and a very good reasonably priced menu. The staff are friendly and the service excellent. There is always lots going on and the pub is always buzzing. Popped in last night for a light meal for two and a couple of beer's (Real Ale) and it cost just over £15.00. Light meal it might have been but the portions were very generous and well cooked.

Well worth a visit.

Review of Good Food Pekinese & Cantonese

25 Jun 08, 13:49

Favorite take away 4*

If your looking for a good peking and Cantonese take away I can highly recommend 'Good Food' in Balards Walk. The food and the service is excellent . Not too much waiting around. My favorite is the crispy coated chilli chicken. The set meals offer good value I would recommend the full o flavour budget meal Crispy pancake roll, deep fried chicken, and egg fried rice only £6.00

A little Gem 4*

A small site but with good facilities. Laundrette, club house, take away and outdoor pool. Very helpful and friendly staff. 10 minutes walk from the beach. Local co-op (With post office) and a pub next door to the site

Winchelsea Beach is unspoilt and very popular with dog walkers. A nice cafe on the beach about a mile away

Review of Smuggler Inn

Well worth a visit 5*

When I am down in Sussex this is my local. Practically on the beach at Pett Level. . A few miles from Rye and a similar distance from Hastings Very friendly staff. A good selection of home cooked bar food or eat in the cosy restaurant. there is a lovely carvery on Sunday.

They often have bands playing usually Friday night or Sunday afternoon. I always try and visit when the hellcats are playing.

Good choice of beers I would highly recommend Festival brewed by Darkstar a local sussex brewery. . Nice garden area and lovely local walks.

Open fire in the winter what more could you want
