Review of B-Bar and Restaurant

I love this place!! 5*

I often stay at the Rubens Hotel next door to B-Bar (in fact, they're both owned by Red Carnation) and I always go into B-Bar. the drinks are reasonably priced for London and the food is really gastro. If you have fish and chips, they're great and presented in a great way!!!!

Review of Giovanni's Restaurant

Everytime! 4*

This is one of Cardiff's finest Italian restaurants. Over the years, the focus has become a little less on relaxed and more on turning the clientale over quickly but this doesn't detract from the quality of the food.

Stuffed mushrooms at the start is a must!!!!!

Review of Hotel Du Vin

02 May 08, 14:32

What a shame! 2*

Having stayed at the Bristol Hotel Du Vin I got really excited to hear there was one in Winchester and decided to stay there.

Sadly, the hotel lacked the character of Bristol and I found the room I was in very small and cramped. The cost was more expensive too which shocked me a little.

I would recommend their Chateaubriand though, it tasted lovely.

Review of Hotel Du Vin & Bistro

Great value 4*

Staying in hotels a lot as I do, it's easy to get cynical and really picky about small detail so you can imagine how nice it was to walk into the Hotel Du Vin in Bristol where its unique charm hits you immediately.

The rooms are all really spacious with wonderful toiletries (that they urge you take home with you!).

The restaurant is great with the right mix of dishes and the bar is really relaxed and casual.

They have private function rooms too and a pool table located upstairs.

Review of Rafus Restaurant

02 May 08, 14:11

Wow! 4*

I went to Rafus on a Monday after a recommendation from a friend and what a great time I had!!

First off, it was all you can eat night. For just £10, you tell them what sort of meats and sauces you like and then leave it to them!

We had great starters and the mains just kept coming. Talk about value.... it was really good!

Review of Bear Hotel

02 May 08, 14:09

Great atmosphere! 3*

I recently popped into this hotel when GWR were broadcasting live for St George's Day.

The atmosphere was great and the place was buzzing with people.

the staff were friendly and helpful, though on occasion a little sarcastic!

Reccomend it for a nice drink though.

Review of The Pear Tree at Purton

02 May 08, 14:06

Never before.... 5*

...have I been to wine tasting evening but last night I did at this beautiful country retreat in Purton.

Not only did I learn loads, but I got quite drunk!!!

The food after was awesome, the salmon and chicken were really tasty.

I didn't stay but got to see one of the rooms and they're lovely - you even get complimentary sherry, biscuits, lemon sherberts and plate of pears!

Review of T G I Fridays

17 Apr 08, 12:20

Hmmm 2*

I haven't been to a TGI's in years, I used to go a lot when I was younger and had some great times at them.

I was quite disappointed when I went back. Not only do the prices seem to be really high now, the service wasn't the usual fun experience you normally associate with a Fridays.

The food was ok (I had a steak) but for the price, it could have been better.

Review of Reflex The 80's Bar

17 Apr 08, 12:15

80's Rock! 3*

I'm a massive 80's fan and to go to a bar, drink and hear some great fromage moments loud is awesome!!

The actual bar itself is ok but the dance area is way too small.... when you fancy yourself as one of the Kids From Fame or fancy showing off your best Bucks Fizz skirt ripping routine, you do live in fear of smacking somone in the face - not good.

Worth a visit although I wouldn't suggest wearing leg warmers, luminous socks or deely boopers. They didn't look good then and they certainly don't now!

The king prawns were to die for!!!

Highly recommend Pepperpot, you won't be disappointed, or hungry!
