suppliers of 'special stuff'
Great butchers. If you like meat, this is the place to come in the area. Everyone else feels the same way, as there are queues round the block most weekends, which invariably means I hardly ever visit. Can source you pretty much anything if they don't have it in stock, get your Xmas orders in early!

small but perfectly formed
If you're looking for some cheap furniture or stuff to fill your house with, it's worth popping in. There's a book shop round the corner which is pretty new, and at the time of visiting had a load of signed books by Joanna Lumley in there, as she'd just opened it - huzzah! It's all for a great charity, so skip on down here you SE London people!

Review of The Royal Festival Hall

Fantastic venue
I think they spent something like 90 million quid renovating this 50's concrete building. I can't say if that's great value for money or not, but they have done a great job. Loads of space, and you can even lets the kids off the leash inside if they fancy a go at annoying tourists and running around the place. Seeing a concert in the main hall is fantastic, and the acoustics are 'top notch!'

The best Evans in London
Saying this is the best branch of Evans is a bit like saying Hess was the least bad nazi, as I find the staff in Evans either ill-informed, unhelpful, or both. It got so bad a copuple of years ago I stopped going into Evans because I didn't want them getting their paws on my hard-earned cash. In this branch i've always found the staff have been pretty helpful, and I've even bought a couple of bikes here over the years. Also handy as a stop-off if you commute into central London from the South East. Just don't ask anyone about child seats in here, they haven't got a clue. Probably because they're too busy getting gnarly up Box hill, or whatever it is they do these days.

Sock-a-rama
Japanese made socks in all shapes and sizes. Think of Paul Smith socks on acid. they also do kind of sock/glove hybrid things which the wife likes. They're socks but they have individual 'fingers' for your toes. I think they're a bit weird/possibly a tad kinky if you're into toes! Also lots of brightly coloured tights should you be a lady in need of some brightly coloured legwear.

ah, the Scumdial
Was the office pub when Yahoo was based round the corner. Unremarkable place, except it shoulkd get a blue plaque for being the place where the turbo shandy was invented.

Best Indian on Lordship Lane?
Thought the food here was fantastic. Place is quite small, but it means it doesn't get too loud. Food was very nicely done, really lovely flavours, and is a league above your standard Indian restaurants. But in the final reckoning, I prefer Ganapati just over the border in SE15.

Review of Run and Become

Perfect for newbies and experienced runners
Stocked with everything you need, but the most important thing here is the staff are very experienced and finding the right kind of shoes for you, especially if you're new to running. Apparently it's all down to if you turn your heels in or out when you run along, in addition to what you feel comfortable in. So if you're ever walking through this part of Victoria, and you see a few people running up and down the same bit of pavement while a shop assistant stares at their feet, you know it's new customers trying out different shoes. They get extra marks because you don't feel hurried into making a purchase, but this does mean you may have to wait at busy times, join the queue!

Review of Lillywhites

dreadful
Used to be a fantastic shop, pretty much all sports covered. i think the owner 'cheap shell suits and trainers' bought it and now it's like a discount warehouse full of clothes that you have to keep away from a naked flame. The shop itself is a mess, with stock piled up and often on the floor, i can't be bothered to write anymore, a painful retail experience.
