Review of Falafel King
16 Jul 08, 14:31
Central Nosh
The Falafel King is located slap-bang in the middle of town centre, where it usually provides well appreciated, and much needed food for weekend revellers. Whilst other takeaways tend to dish up food that nudges the unhealthy side of life slowly into a coronary, the Falafel King can stand proud and tall, and have confidence in it’s healthier food options. For this reason. the custom is not limited entirely to Friday and Saturday nights, and the Falafel King also provides decent food to many an office worker on their lunch break. The food is priced fairly too. There should be more places like this.

Review of Redland Tandoori

Nice and Spicey
The people who run this takeaway (which is also a restaurant) are astoundingly nice. They are also shrewd businessmen and understand how lucrative a takeaway in a largely student residential area is. We are regularly thanked for placing ‘large’ orders (over 4 people!) with a free bottle of red wine, that although lacking slightly in quality, is still well received and ensures we always return. As with all takeaway Indians, the food is slightly greasy, but the flavours are well blended.

Review of Pieminister
16 Jul 08, 14:16
Pie and mighty
Pieminister pies are now a Bristol institution. The brand is now a guarantee of really tasty food accompanied with a nice big slice of satisfaction in the knowledge that the produce is good quality and the company is a well-respected local one. They consistently provide pies in innovative and original flavours that mean you will, never, ever become bored of eating them

Review of Simply Thai
16 Jul 08, 14:11
Simply delicious
Simple Thai is an unpretentious Oriental take away, which serves consistently good food. We have had one disastrous order from there, whereby we got completely the wrong food, however other than this, every single meal has been delicious, reasonably priced and of a really decent portion size.

Review of BS8
15 Jul 08, 08:19
Good stuff all over the shop
BS8 has been solely responsible for shaping the way Bristol’s youth dress. A one-stop-shop of men’s, women’s and anything in between’s clothes, you are just as likely to find a favourite pair of jeans here, as you are a ball gown. Some vintage, some new, with a scattering of accessories quite literally ‘all over the shop'. If you want a new, relatively cheap outfit – go to BS8.

Review of The Cadbury House
11 Jul 08, 15:51
How do you do it?
The Cadbury is an accommodating, relaxed and informal pub. Although located in an apparently ‘dodgy’ area of Montpelier, I have never experienced any problems. This pub attracts some colourful people and characters, has a good sized garden, some abysmal graffiti in the toilets, and some decent beers on tap. Not bad all round but if you like your posh drinks and dressing up - this isn’t the place for you.

Review of The Slug And Lettuce
11 Jul 08, 15:41
I woudl prefer to eat a Slug than go here
If you like shouting loudly to annoying people, wearing too much perfume or aftershave, drinking poor quality drinks at an overly busy bar, and wading through alcohol casualties to get to and from a Pub, then go here. If you are not tempted by any of the above, then don’t. The Slug and Lettuce barely fulfils the criteria of what a pub actually is.

Review of The Highbury Vaults

A good selection of ales
The location of this pub is rather ‘studenty’ but this does not detract from the fact they have a generous selection of decent ales and some darn good snacks. A perfect place to sit and relax and with a fairly decent garden (all important for the smokers!) this is an ideal place to come and chill out.

Review of The Robin Hood

Enjoy it while you can
There is a big ‘For Sale’ sign on this pub at the moment, so comments may have to be taken with a pinch of salt. Half way up St Michaels Hill, the main feature of this pub is its tiny garden out the back which is decorated jauntily as what appears to be a summer festival. It is only big enough for one large group of friends but if you are lucky enough to commandeer the area - you have a lovely lovely time.

Review of The Bell
11 Jul 08, 15:28
Ring my Bell
The Bell is bench mark pub of Stokes Croft. It has a little garden out the back where stubborn smokers can still puff away, and offers a cosy and intimate retreat away from the often fruity goings on in the area. On Sundays they offer good Roasts.
