<![CDATA[Greater London - Hackney - Reviews]]> http://www.welovelocal.com Reviews from welovelocal.com en Rude Staff - Who hired them http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/hackney/dalston/supermarkets/tesco-express-e84dg.html#r53331 Although I live very near to this shop and have already spent lots of money here I have made a pledge not to shop here again EVER after a very poor experience yesterday!

The staff were talking to one another in strong Nigerian accents about the customers.I don't think they thought we could understand what they were saying but we could! When it cam to my turn they were laughing and discussing the fact that I always say that I don't need a plastic carrier bag as I bring my own. I felt small and belittled. Surely if they recognise me they could say a 'Hello - how are you?" and perhaps ask if I have my own bag. I am always polite and friendly even when I have been working for 14 hours. I used to pity the rude man for the hours he worked! Come on Tesco - your customers should not feel alienated by staff. Also, the selection of food is poor.

Almost Criminal! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/hackney/shoreditch/bike-shops/brick-lane-bikes-e26dg.html#r53307 Terrible service. Rude shop staff. Disgustingly over priced. Literally expect to pay 30% more than average for everything. Try everyone else before you get ripped off by these guys.

old kings head http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/hackney/hoxton/pubs/the-old-kings-head-ec2a4jb.html#r53202 welcoming atmosphere. Cozy feel, family run and they seem to make you feel right at home. Tucked off a little side road but so close to Liverpool and all the life in hoxton. Beers cheap so I'll be back, def worth checking out if you go out in the area makes a nice start to the night and a nice change from the usuall bars.

Friendly and helpful http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/hackney/stoke-newington/opticians/s-h-davis-n160ap.html#r53104 I've been going there for over 20 years! And like everyone else, I thoroughly recommend him. A very friendly, helpful, good-natured man and the same goes for his staff. I'd choose Stephen and the team over Specsavers anyday!

Beer Garden?! http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/hackney/stoke-newington/bars/ryans-bar-n16-n160ul.html#r53095 This place fooled me into buying a glass of wine (good) and then sitting in their beer garden (naff). Yes it's lovely to sit outside but this place has nothing more but a very large patio out back. Maybe it's my country roots but I just expected something a little more 'green' it this garden.

Not bad wine though and the staff were very friendly. Thumbs up there but just don't go if you fancy a sit outside, try one of the other pubs close by.

A nice BYO curry house http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/hackney/stoke-newington/indian-restaurants/rice-n-spice-balti-house-n167jl.html#r53094 I went here the day before pay day for a friend’s birthday and thought it was really nice. We choose this place as it was on the cheaper side and bring your own booze (well it was just before pay day!). It proved to be a hit with me and the ladies I went with, excellent service and very tasty food, even if it is a little rich.

The only thing that would put me off this place is the day after affect; all three of us that went did have sensitive tummies after. Possibly due to the amount we ate but you never know.

Not really a posh place you would go but nice if you are on a budget, in the area and don't have to be in a small confined space the following day.

Yum! REAL Viet styles http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/hackney/dalston/vietnamese-restaurants/huong-viet-n14ls.html#r53087 I went tonight and I was impressed. Just like being back there! Fresh, intense authentic flavours and Hue beer too! The service was a bit dodgy at first, but our waitress was very nice and knew the menu backwards. The monkfish hotpot was amazing and took much less than the 'long time' I was told (it was a docile Wednesday night though) and the spicy lemongrass and chilli pork spare ribs are the bomb! They don't hold back on the spices.

In short; quick and delicious and service not dissimilar to a local restaurant in Vietnam. Top points for the cheesy pic with Tony Blair above the counter!

Four stars,I'll be back with friends!

Great pizza http://www.welovelocal.com/en/london/hackney/stoke-newington/italian-restaurants/il-bacio-n160ar.html#r53026 Il Bacio is a lovely pizzeria on Church Street. Go for the pizzas - the other food is definitely on the OK rather than the excellent side, but the pizzas are superb and very much the point here. It's very child-friendly - I have 3 under 5 and we're always made welcome. Open for lunch most days too, which a lot of restaurants in the area aren't. And if you can't be bothered to go out they'll deliver!
